100 Days of Productivity – Day 2

(2/100) Again, I know this post was supposed to happen yesterday, but today and tomorrow are my catch-up days so I’m doing my best here. Tuesday’s agenda included:

  • Work from 9am-1pm
  • Finish studying chapter one of elementary statistics
  • Begin chapter thirteen of history of Western Art
  • Adjust my budget and finance plan
  • Try not to cry as a I adjust my budget and finance plan

This week has been off to a pretty good start. I’m still really working to get myself completely organized so that’s always hectic. But I’d count day 2 as a success.

The Year Ahead

Never before have I been this anxious about starting a new semester.

Every time a new semester rolls around I frantically try to get my shit together from the chaos that was the previous finals week. This term, I’m not only stressed from trying to reorganize my life (yet again) but I’m actually really nervous for what this next semester will bring.

This is my last semester finishing up all of transfer requirements. I have FOUR courses left and then I have completed all of my CSU transfer and general education requirements. I am FOUR courses away from being able to transfer to my dream school.

And I am so extremely anxious about all of it.

I’m really excited to hit the ground running next week. I’m looking to finish out a really strong note.

And I’m actually submitting my Spring 2017 application as I type this. My plan is finish up this semester and then attend the CSU in my home town for the Spring 2017. After this, I’m hoping to move out to my dream school and pursue my masters degree beginning in the Fall of 2017.

This next year should be an interesting, and quite busy, one. Starting next Monday (my first official day of the semester) I will be attempting a 100 Days of Productivity Challenge!

Here’s to a great new school year.

Dealing with Downtime

Well finals week hit, and it hit hard.

Staying awake writing essays until 4 am every morning nearly killed. Mostly figuratively. But also maybe literally.

After finals ended I decided to sleep for about 2 weeks straight so I apologize for the slight hiatus from this blog.

Summer is now upon us and now I’m sitting at my desk everyday trying to figure out what in the world to do with my last couple weeks of break before my summer course begins. I don’t handle breaks well, I never have. I feel directionless and I’m never quite sure what to do with all my neurotic energy. I have so many half-completed projects that are taking up space in my room and in my head. I have this tendency of trying to take on everything all at once only to get so overloaded that I drop everything altogether. I’m also terrible at trying to micromanage my time. So when I’m on a break from school and no longer facing deadlines, I tend to try to micromanage my free time instead of just enjoying my projects.

I’m working on it, I swear.

For now I’ll work on my personal projects and dedicating more time to myself. I’ll work to post here more consistently and writing more for myself. I also have some big ideas in the works right now but I probably won’t be posting about it here until I’ve worked out a game plan for it. So for now: to be continued.

If any of you have ideas for some fun and/or productive summer projects feel free to drop some suggestions in the comments! Also, I hope everyone who faced exams or finals recently did well and is now looking forward to enjoying your break!

Happy summer everyone.

A(nother) New Beginning

I have tried several times over the past couple of years to start blogging consistently. However, for one reason or another my motivation for this always fizzled out after a couple of posts.
I think I’d been trying so hard to fit into a certain mold.
I’d draw “inspiration” from my favorite writers and bloggers and other creative individuals. I thought my writings needed to fit in a certain format; but this never felt right and I’d continue to lose my interest in it time and time again.
But writing has always been a much needed outlet for me. So, this time I’d like try again but focus more on using this blog as tool and an aide for myself.

A little bit about myself to start this off:

  • I am a writer – I love the feeling of putting words on paper and allowing the ink to spill from my veins at 3am every morning. Writing has always been my go-to creative outlet. Whether I’m crafting short stories, molding the meter of a new poem, or scribbling furiously with reckless abandon; I will always feel more at ease with a pen in my hand.
  • I am a cat mom – I have two, super cute furbabies who like to walk across my keyboard as a try to type and take naps on top of the books I’m trying to read.
  • I am an artist, a creative daydreamer – I love to make a mess and try new things. I love to paint (even though I am admittedly terrible at it) and be able to express the inner working of my mind in a visibly unique way.
  • I am an obsessively organized college student – I’m currently working towards a bachelor’s degree in both Literary Studies and Sociology. After this, I’m hoping to obtain a master’s in Literary and Cultural Studies. A bit of a sticky note and stationary enthusiast, everything I own is color-coded and I don’t know how to function without my planner.

A couple things I’d like to do on this blog:

  • I’d like share my creative writings. My prose, poems, and internal monologues.
  • I’d like this to be a bit of study blog. To keep me motivated towards my academic goals and share some of what I learn a long the way.
  • I’d like to express some of my other creative outlets through this blog. My paintings and dyes and other fun messes.
  • I’d like this to keep me motivated in pursuing all of my passions and goals. Whether it’s attempting to do a 100 days of productivity challenge or keeping me on track with my study habits or giving me a place to experiment and stay excited about my creative projects – I’d like this to be the main outlet for the whirlwind that is my multitasking mind.

Here’s to a(nother) new beginning and hoping that in creating a place to express myself freely I’m giving myself the motivation to keep going and trying new things.
